He joined the Army, serving in the Philippines during WWII. After leaving the service he returned to Boeing where he worked until his retirement in 1982. During his retirement years he volunteered with the Sedgwick County ARC, serving in many capacities. He was an active member of the Wichita Lions West Club. He is survived by his wife, Ellen of 63 years and children: Paula and Jim Doss, Thomas and Peggy Slicker, Jana Simon and Scott Slicker. He leaves eight grandchildren: Meaghen Briley, Shanna Brown, Issy Doss, Jessica Wissner, Christa Dickey, Jake Simon, Stephanie Simon and Becca Simon. He leaves eight great-grandchildren. He now cares for his great grandson, Eli Briley in heaven.
