Burden, Nina Lea (Rush) 12-11-1920 4-7-2005 b. Garfield ks pawnee co, d. Wichita passed away at Wesley Hospital. She graduated from high school there and attended art classes in college at McPherson, KS. She and Ralph T. Gooden were married June 2, 1940. They had only one child, Ronald R. Gooden. Ralph developed a brain tumor and had unsuccessful surgery and the tumor returned. Nina Lea sold her paintings to support the struggling family. She then worked for the Boy Scouts of America office in Wichita, where she met and later married Walter L. Burden, a professional scouter and Boeing engineer. She left the Scout Office to work for McCormick Armstrong Printing Company as an Artist and Proofreader. Her artwork has been displayed in the Smithsonian Institute. Nina Lea and Walter were paramount in relocating Calvary United Methodist Church from downtown at English & Lulu to 25th Street North and Rock Road. Walter died in July 2000.
Smith, Sandy 5-26-1952  10-2-2005 b. St. John ks Stafford co, d. Larned ks Pawnee co, D/O Ralph Raymond and Ruth Allene Mettling Drake. A lifetime Pawnee County resident, she was a licensed mental health technician at Larned State Hospital. She was preceded in death by a brother, Larry.
Smithson, Renee 2-24-1930 12-16-2005 b. & d. Larned ks Pawnee co, D/O Robert Earl and Mary Margaret Harr Aggson. She belonged to the Christian Faith, Fort Larned Lions Club and served as the Community Service Advisor for the Southwest Kansas Area Agency on Aging. She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Aggson; and a sister, Jane Cook.
