Harvey County, she moved into Schowalter Villa Community in 1979.
On Nov. 11, 1922, she married Lawrence Molzen in rural Harvey County. He died Dec. 28, 1977. She was preceded in death by an infant son, James Ervin Molzen; two daughters, Genevie Dalke and Patricia Corrado; three brothers, Paul, Raymond and Ervin Steiner; and a sister, Florence Fowler.

A graduate of Newton High School, she was a secretary at Central Securities until her marriage to Ardith Sauerwein on December 28, 1949. They raised five children on a dairy farm in rural Newton. The family was active in 4-H work, church and community sevice. An avid folk artisan, she worked at The Yarn Shop and retired from Prairie View after 23 years in the Creative Arts Department. Elaine shared her interest in folk arts with local school groups, regional and state cultural events. She was active in politics; serving the Democrat party and county, state levels. She was a delegate and member of the platform committee for the 1976 National Democrat Convention. She served on the Newton school board doe eight years. Preceded in death by her parents and stepfather, Frank McLean.|
