She graduated from Macksville High School and attended college in Pittsburg and Hays before graduating from McPherson College in 1968. She was a homemaker and taught at a country school in Pawnee County. She belonged to Church of the Brethren, McPherson. She was a member of the American Association of University Women, Women's International, League for Peace and Freedom and several environmental organizations. On Aug. 5, 1944, she married William T. Ayers in Pawnee County. He died March 25, 1968. She was preceded in death by a son, David; and four brothers, Vernon, Donald, John and Louis Hall.
Badgett, Kenneth Eugene 4-20-1917 12-22-2005 b. Enid OK Garfield co, d. McPherson ks , S/O Andrew Reed and Ollie Frances Ross Badgett. He attended Oklahoma schools. He began working for Bay Refinery, McPherson, until they closed. He then worked at Kaneb Pipe Line starting Nov. 27, 1953, as an electrical engineer, until retiring in 1981. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2715 and Elks Lodge B.P.O.E. No. 502, all of McPherson. On June 25, 1940, he married Mildred Lucille Holcomb in McPherson. She died Aug. 11, 1997. He was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Badgett; and twin granddaughters.

She attended Cedar Rapids elementary schools and Junior High School, and graduated from McPherson High School. A resident of McPherson most of her life, she was a homemaker and worked for the McPherson County Register of Deeds Office and later as a secretary for the McPherson School of Practical Nursing. She belonged to First Christian Church, the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, and was a former member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2715 Ladies Auxiliary, and American Legion Post No. 24 Ladies Auxiliary, all at McPherson. On March 31, 1945, she married Bill Ray Chaney at Gulfport, Miss. He died April 23, 1992. She was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Clay Haden Jr.; and a grandson.

She attended McPherson schools and graduated from McPherson College in 1939 with a teaching degree. A resident of Hutchinson since 1976, she was a former resident of Dallas and McPherson. She was a member of First Baptist Church, McPherson; and the American Legion Auxiliary Choir.
She was preceded in death by a son, Rick DeTour; and a brother, Laverne M. "Tony" Voshell.

A resident of McPherson since 1948, moving from Pittsburg, she was a Southwestern Bell Telephone operator and also worked in an ammunition factory at Kansas City.  On Nov. 8, 1948, she married Roger W. Fortune at Pittsburg. He died Aug. 22, 2003.

She attended school in Oklahoma, and during her high school years, she moved to McPherson to live with Ray and Mayla Austin. She graduated from McPherson High School in 1931. She was a secretary for Martin Van Hoy Motors, Charlie Martin's dealership and Elber Turner and Turner Motors, all of McPherson. On Feb. 3, 1935, she married Virgil Theodore "Bud" Freeburg in McPherson. He died March 16, 2003. She was preceded in death by a son, Richard Lee Freeburg; and a daughter, Shirley Ann Christensen

He graduated from Galva High School in 1942, and then Kansas University with a Bachelor of Science Degree. A resident of Bushton, moving from McPherson he was a professional baseball player in the Cardinals Organization, and then worked for Conoco Oil Co. as a welders helper, and then Northern Natural Gas Co., as a District Measurement Technician, until retiring. He belonged to United Methodist Church, United Methodist Men, both in Bushton, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2715, American Legion Post No. 24, both in McPherson, was a former Bushton Lions Club Member and volunteer with the Bushton Boy Scout Troop. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He was a resident of Valparaiso, Fla., since December of 2004, moving from Fort Worth, Texas. He was a minister, Pastor of the Church of the Nazarene for 25 years and was a business administrator for the United Methodist Church until his retirement in 2004.

Kenney, Kenneth D. 1-13-1928 12-13-2005 b. McPherson ks McPherson co, d. wichita, S/O Donald Joseph and Daisy Pearl Justice Kenney. He attended Wickersham Grade School, McPherson Junior High School and graduated from McPherson High School in 1944. He attended McPherson College for classes for work. He started working for National Cooperative Refinery Association, McPherson, on Oct. 26, 1953, as a laborer. He worked as a yardman, pipe fitter helper, became safety supervisor in 1967, and in 1972, he became maintenance project supervisor, retiring Jan. 31, 1990. He belonged to Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, McPherson, and the Paint/Pinto and Quarter Horse Association. He also taught a Hunter's Safety Course and was a 4-H leader. He served in the National Guard for 18 years. He was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Kenney; and a sister, Shirley Perkins.

Koehn, Mabel Susie 10-3-1916 9-19-2005 d.  McPherson ks, She was born near Kismet, in Seward County, the daughter of Carl J. and Lena Wedel Koehn. She was a 1935 graduate of McPherson High School. A resident of McPherson County most of her life, she was an operator and clerk for Southwestern Bell Telephone. She retired after 33 years of service. She belonged to Telephone Pioneers, she was co-manager of Save-n-Share Store, was a treasurer for a number of church related organizations and a volunteer for VITA program at McPherson Senior Center.  She was preceded in death by three brothers, Valdo, Lloyd and Nelson Koehn; and a sister, Verna Dirks.

She attended school at Phillipsburg, Hutchinson, Ellis and Jewell, graduating from Phillipsburg High School in 1976, and she graduated in 1978 from Fort Hays State University. A resident of McPherson, moving from Phillipsburg, she had worked at Chicken Inn Restaurant, Sterling Drug, FAR-MAR-Co., Cimarron Investment Co. and Farmers Alliance Insurance Co. She belonged to Harmony Christian Church, McPherson; Job's Daughters of the Order of the Eastern Star, Phillipsburg; National Honor Society; and the FHA.
Kraus, Clyde Robert 2-15-1914 9-28-2005 b. Lane ks Franklin co, d. Mulvane ks Sumner co, S/O William August and Lucy Grimm Kraus. He attended Lane grade schools and Lane High School. A former resident of Lane, moving to Mulvane, he was a welder for the N.C.R.A., a pipefitter and welder building missile silos and atomic power plants in the U.S., employee at McConnell Airbase, and built Daimler-Chrysler Plant in Rockford, Ill. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, McPherson; and Plumber's and Pipefitter's Union 441. On May 24, 1940, he married Marcella "Pat" Cook in McPherson. She died Jan. 20, 1994.

He was a retired pipeline construction contractor.  He belonged to Countryside Covenant Church, McPherson, and the International Flying Farmers. On Jan. 25, 1938, he married Doris A. Rasmussen at Lyons. She died May 12, 2003.

She was the owner and operator of Katie's Krafts, McPherson. She belonged to St. Joseph Catholic Church and St. Joseph Altar Society and was a past member of the American Legion Auxiliary, all in McPherson.   She was preceded in death by two sisters, Evelyn Grennan and Patricia Hansen
Lindholm, Val L. 6-1-1942 8-1-2005  d. Great Bend ks Barton co, S/O Archie L. and Louise A. Sherrard Lindholm. He attended elementary schools and graduated from Great Bend High School in 1960. A resident of Great Bend since March 2005, moving from Breckenridge, Colo., he was President of Lindholm Construction Company, Great Bend, until the business closed and then was a specialty painter and photographer at Summit County, Colo. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. On June 14, 1964, he married Karen L. Rinker at Great Bend. He was preceded in death by his parents.

She attended elementary school in McPherson, graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1933 and from Hutchinson Junior College in 1935. A longtime resident of McPherson, she was a homemaker and a physicians clerk for Dr. Weir Pierson, McPherson.
On June 17, 1936, she married Burr Oakes Miller in McPherson. He died Aug. 11, 1981. She was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Pettit; and a sister, Mildred Bankes.
Mog, Charles Alfred 5-19-1913 1-3-2006 
b. Ellsworth co ks, d. McPherson ks McPherson co, S/O Edward and Mary Kodytek Mog. He attended Blackwolf schools. A resident of McPherson since 2002, moving from California, he worked for Boeing of Wichita during World War II and then started Mog Construction Company in Great Bend until he sold the business and moved to California. He later worked for North American Aviation as a quality control inspector, until his retirement in 1974. He belonged to Masonic Lodge in both Great Bend and in California.
On June 5, 1937, he married Viola Clara Panzer in Ellsworth. She died Nov. 3, 2000. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Earl, Edward, Ben and John; three sisters, Pearl Janousek, Blanche Sullivan and Caroline Vickers; and a grandson.

Nordling, Bernard Erick 6-14-1921 8-31-2005 b. Rush co ks, d. Lawrence ks Douglas co, "Bernie,"  He was born   near Nekoma in Rush County, Kansas, the son of Ebben and Edith Freeburg Nordling. He was a graduate of McPherson High School and McPherson College in McPherson, Kansas, and graduated with honors from the University of Kansas Law School in 1949. Following graduation from KU Law School, Bernie married Barbara Burkholder on March 26, 1949, in McPherson and moved to Hugoton, Kansas, where he became associated in the general practice of law with A. E. (Gus) Kramer, founder of the Southwest Kansas Royalty Owners Association (SWKROA), with over 2,700 royalty owner members nationwide. Nordling served as SWKROA Executive Secretary from 1968 to 1994. Bernie spent his entire legal career representing causes on behalf of landowners. Prior to his death, he helped establish guidelines for landowners in negotiating wind energy leases. Nordling's law firm, currently known as Kramer, Nordling & Nordling, LLC, and the Wichita law firm of Fleeson, Gooing, Coulson & Kitch successfully represented landowners in the gas royalty and helium litigation over the years. The litigation resulted in tens of millions of dollars of additional royalties for landowners in the Hugoton Field. Mr. Nordling served as Hugoton City Attorney for 36 years and as Stevens County Attorney for six years. At the time of his death, Bernie was a member of the Hugoton United Methodist Church. He has served many years as a community leader. He had also served as a Boy Scout Scoutmaster and, attending two national jamborees and one international jamboree. He also served on the Board of Trustees of McPherson College, the Board of Trustees of the Kansas Alumni Association, the Kansas University Endowment Association, and the Kansas 4-H Foundation. In Lawrence, he was active in the Noon Rotary Club and the New Generation group. Honors and awards received by Bernie during his lifetime include Citation of Merit, McPherson College; Distinguished Alumnus Award, KU Law School; Fred Ellsworth Medallion, Kansas Alumni Association; Lifetime Achievement Award, Hugoton Area Chamber of Commerce; and James L. Stafford Founder's Award, National Association of Royalty Owners.

A resident of McPherson, she was the secretary for USD 418, McPherson. She belonged to First Presbyterian Church, Mary Circle, and was a former member of Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and the Sewing Club, all in McPherson. On May 30, 1942, she married William LaVerne Olson in McPherson. He died Sept. 28, 1987. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Virginia Lee Carley and Marjorie Baudino.

On Sept. 10, 1938, she married Henry Francis Wachtman at Wichita. He died March 18, 1993.She was preceded in death by a brother, Howard DeVault.

"Butch" Wagner Sr., on May 30, 1938. He died Nov. 24, 1961. She married Albert H. Groke Sr., on June 5, 1965. He died Dec. 16, 1988. Mrs. Wagner was a retired chemistry lab assistant at Sterling Drug Inc., having lived in McPherson since 1946.  Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Francis D. Wagner Sr. and Albert H. Groke Sr.; a son, Philip K. Wagner; a step-son, Francis D. Wagner Jr.; an infant brother, George Leo Van Buren; and a great-grandson, Blake Stanley.

Zimmerman, Kenneth Roy 2-14-1933 10-25-2005 b. Lebanon PA Lebanon co, d. McPherson ks McPherson co, S/O Leroy and Ruth Immel Zimmerman. A resident of McPherson since 1971, he was a project engineer at Certainteed Corp., McPherson, and retired from the U.S. Air Force. He served in the U.S. Marines at Korea, and the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was preceded in death by a grandson.
