Kessler, Richard S. 4-22-1928 5-8-2005 b. Russell KS russell co, d. wichita, Of Wichita, former longtime Russell resident. S/O Sam and Dora (Thoman) Kessler. He grew up in Russell and attended elementary and high school in Russell, graduating from Russell High School with the class of 1946. He joined the Army right after high school graduation and served with the 43rd Engineers in the Occupation Army in Japan. He came back to the area upon his discharge from the Army and attended Ft. Hays State University, where he met his wife, Betty during his junior year in college. He graduated with a BA degree in business with a minor in music and his future wife graduated with a degree in music from Ft. Hays in 1952. This common love of music formed a lasting bond in their relationship and in their families lives forever. On June 7, 1952, he was united in marriage to Betty (See) in Ransom, KS. They shared nearly 53 years of married life together. After their marriage, Richard worked with his father in the laundry and dry cleaning business in Hays and Russell until he accepted a position with the State Highway Dept. in 1964. He was promoted to Chief Appraiser for the State of Kansas in 1972 and they moved to Lawrence, KS. The desire to form his own Appraisal Company prompted him to move to Wichita in 1976. He was a private commercial appraiser and licensed realtor, owning and operating Kessler and Associates Appraisal in Wichita until his death. He was a member of the Methodist Church, a lifetime member of Russell VFW Lodge #6240, the Masonic Lodge and the Shrine Club. Richard enjoyed a variety of interests including his work, his family, woodworking, flying his airplane, music and helping his wife in the flower garden.

Stoeppelwerth, Anna Electra 6-2-1906 5-19-2005 b. Elma Center NY Erie co, d. Prairie Village ks Butler co, D/O Gerson A. and Nettie Minnie (Grader) Stearns.  She married George Paul Stoeppelwerth in 1932. He died Sept. 27, 1964. She was a homemaker.  She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sydney Stoeppelwerth.
York, Velma Loretta 3-25-1920 10-24-2005 b. Girard ks Crawford co, d. Longview TX Gregg co, D/O William David and Nancy Elizabeth Dunnic McCloud. On April 30, 1940, she married Raymond Lloyd York. He preceded her in death.
