He moved with his family to Garden City in 1932 and attended Garden City Schools, graduating from Garden City High School in 1941. He then attended Garden City Community College for a semester. He was a farmer and owned and operated Ruste Wheel Antiques. He was a member of the American Legion and Friends of Lee Richardson Zoo, both in Garden City. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Headquarters Battery 453rd Anti-Aircraft Battalion.  He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Carol Algrim; a brother, Clifton Algrim; two sisters, Lorene Montgomery and Mildred Hands, and a granddaughter.

She attended Garden City High School and graduated from Reef-Sunset Adult High School, Avenal, Calif. A resident of Garden City, moving from California, she was a para-professional at Charles Stones School, was in the medical field and was currently employed at BPI.

He was a member of Knights of Columbus No. 2795 and Eagles Lodge, both in Garden City. In April 1940, he married Elizabeth Witman in Garden City. She died in April 1956. He later remarried. He was preceded in death by seven brothers, four sisters and a great-grandson.

Brooks, Richard L. 10-15-1922 5-29-2005 b. Ottumwa IA, Wapello co, d. Garden City Finney co, S/O Clarence and Chloe Richards Brooks. He served in the U.S. Army and the Army Reserves. He was preceded in death by an infant brother; a brother, James Brooks; and a sister, Beverly McKenzie. Burial  with military graveside rites conducted by the Fort Riley Honor Guard.
Burg, Kenneth LaVern 9-12-1909 10-18-2005  b. Pawnee Ctiy NE Pawnee co, d. Houston NE York co, S/O George Francis and Lucy Parli Burg. He was a longtime wheat farmer in Finney County. He belonged to Community Congregational Church, Garden City, where he served on numerous boards; Tyian Masonic Lodge No. 0246; Knight of Templar No. 50; Presbyterian Church, Harper; Lions Club; and Anthony Gun Club. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. On June 6, 1930, he married Mildred Z. Beeson in Garden City. She died June 28, 1975. On March 26, 1977, he married Thelma Joslin. She died in 1990.

She was a former resident of Belle Plaine and Kearney, Neb., moving to Garden City in 1972. She worked as a secretary for the Holcomb school district, Head Start and Buffalo Jones School, retiring in 1987 after a 22-year career. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Garden City, and the AARP. On Dec. 30, 1954, she married Alvin H. Douglas at Garden City. He died in 1972. She was preceded in death by two sons, Thomas and Michael; a brother, Julius Meier; and a sister, Vivian Bayer.

He attended schools at Holcomb and graduated from Coyne Electrical School of Chicago in 1947, as a master electrician. A resident of Garden City, he was an electrician at Geier Electric, was a partner in G&L Electric, before becoming director of maintenance at St. Catherine Hospital until retiring. He belonged to St. Dominic Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus No. 2795 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, all at Garden City. He served in the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters. Military graveside rites conducted by the Garden City Area Veterans.

He served in the U.S. Army 24th Division, 180th Engineers and as an E5 Sergeant during the Korean War from 1952 to 1956.He was preceded in death by his parents, a stepfather, Cecil Robinson, and a brother, Jackie. Memorial graveside service  military rites conducted by Garden City Area Veterans Honor Guard.

She moved to Garden City with her family as a child, attended Garden City schools and graduated from Garden City High School. A homemaker, she also assisted in the family business, Schreiber Motors, and worked as a receptionist at Studio I, Garden City. She was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church, Garden City; Daughters of Isabella; Altar Society; World War II U.S.O. Volunteer; and Perpetual Adoration. On June 17, 1952, she married Robert E. Schreiber in Garden City. He died Sept. 10, 1998. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Urban and Ernest Gerber; and two sisters, Beulah Meyer and Frieda Powers.
