To create a character-delimited file please follow these instructions: Right click on your desktop, choose New, Text Document or if you have a plain text program such as TextPad, open it. Name the file the name of the cemetery. In the text file you will be using a semi-colon ( ; ) to separate information. There must be an equal number of semi-colons in each line of text. No spaces should follow the colon. This is an example of a 4-column file. NAME;DOB;DOD;NOTES SMITH, John;1/1/1900;1/1/2000;Son of John & Mary (info for each of the 4 columns) SMITH, John;;1/1/2000;Son of John & Mary (no date of birth--2 semi-colons after name) SMITH, John;1/1/1900;;Son of John & Mary (no date of death--2 semi-colons between dob & notes) SMITH, John;1/1/1900;1/1/2000; (no notes--dob followed by semi-colon with no info included) A 4-column layout will have 3 semi-colons in each line. 5-column layout will have 4 semi-colons.
