HOOKER, Okla. ­ Mareta Hamilton, 87, died Thursday March 10, 2005, at her daughter's home in Hooker. She was born Oct. 30, 1917, to Daniel and Nancy Victoria Bryant in the Dombey area of Beaver County (Okla). She married Everett Edwin Hamilton May 8, 1938, in Guymon, Okla. He died March 5, 1979. She attended elementary and high school at Eureka Public School in Baker, Okla. She attended college at Panhandle State University in Goodwell, Okla., and Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, Okla. She worked as a nurse for Dunaway Manor for 20 years. She also worked at Grey's Drug, Fast Laundry and Ideal Food Store. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Hooker, Okla. Survivors include four daughters, Patrecia Dobbs and husband Joye, Hobbs, N.M., Gladys Lauderdale, Buffalo, Okla., and Nancy Weber and husband Lonnie, Hooker, Okla.; 12 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; two nephews, Bobbie Russell, Abott, Maine, and Daniel Russell, Englewood, Colo.; and one niece, Rita Russell, Englewood, Colo. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Roberts Russell; one son-in-law, Henry Lauderdale Sr.; and two grandchildren, Henry Lauderdale Jr. and Micheal Lauderdale. * Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Hooker, Okla., with Brother Eddy Scoggins presiding. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens

Ralph Vincent Heng, 83, died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2005, at his residence in Liberal. He was born Nov. 8, 1921, to Vincent and Mary (Lederer) Heng at Nebraska City, Neb. He married Barbara Ann Steele Aug. 8, 1950, in Liberal. She survives. He was a 1938 graduate of Nebraska City (Neb.) High School. From 1943 to 1945, he was a technician in training as a civilian for the U.S. Air Force working on B-24 radio equipment. He was owner-operator of Tri-State Communications in Liberal from 1954 to 1980. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Liberal, a Charter and Life member of Knights of Columbus Council No. 3381, Fourth Degree Knight in the Bishop A. J. Schweriner Assembly 1302, Tuesday Rosary Group at St. Anthony Catholic Church and also a member of the Elks Liberal Lodge No.1947. Other survivors include one son, Ralph Michael "Mike" Heng and wife Tonia of Waukesha, Wis.; three daughters, Sharon Martin and husband Jerry, Manhattan, Karen Todd and husband Fred, Carmel, Ind., Marilyn Williams and husband Steve, Kansas City, Mo.; five grandchildren, Christopher Carrel and wife Jill, Matthew Carrel, Kelly Martin, Jamie Martin and Mandie Reed and husband Phil; and one sister-in-law, Margaret Heng, Lincoln, Neb. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Irvin Heng Sr. * Vigil service will be at 7 p.m. Friday at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home in Liberal. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Liberal with Father Patrick A. Keyes and Father Tony Judge presiding. Burial will follow at Restlawn Cemetery in Liberal.

ELK CITY, Okla. ­ Lorenda Jean Jeffries, 50, died Monday, July 25, 2005, at Presbyterian Hospital in Oklahoma City. She was born May 7, 1955, to Gordon J. and Jean Cook Jeffries in Dodge City. She graduated from Tyrone (Okla.) High School in 1973. Survivors include her mother; and one brother, Myron Jeffries and wife Joyce, Naperville, Ill. Mary Myrtle Jane Merrill Johnson died Wednesday, July 27, at the Kindred Care Hospital in Oklahoma City. She was born June 21, 1910, to Mary Evelyn Packwood Nicks and Mr. Merrill at a homestead in Rufe, Okla. She was a resident of Gran Gran's Place in Yukon, Okla. and a member of Vandament Ave. Baptist Church. She was very faithful in church wherever she lived. She taught home economics and sewing in a Christian school in Utah. Her hobbies included making quilts and sewing potholders, gardening, lawn work and baking breads. Survivors include one sister, Meredith Richards of Edmond, Okla.; one son, Howard Eugene Johnson and wife Etola, Grand Prairie, Texas; eight grandchildren, Sandy Landis, Yukon, Okla., Martha Gibson and husband Donnie of Hamilton, Ohio, including others; at least eight great-grandchildren, Jerry Landis and wife Michelle, Bentonville, Ark., Lorraine Potts and husband Jim, Liberal, Dana Thompson, Cincinnati, Sonny Gibson, Cincinnati, and the others from California; at least 12 great-great-grandchildren, T.J., Tyler and Tiffany Prater, Tucker, Taylor, Tanner and Bailey Landis, Bryee and Devan Thompson, Noah, Kyrie and Ayden Gibson; a few great-great-great-grandchildren; and many friends and relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Howard Johnson, Oklahoma City; two daughters, Sarah Frances Hinojosa of Oceanside, Calif., Marie Evelyn Bolton, Liberal; one son-in-law, Cleveland Cooper Bolton of Modesto, Calif.; and a grandson-in-law, Dr. Larry K. Landis, Liberal. * Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, at Smith and Turner Mortuary at 201 E. Main in Yukon, Okla. Burial will be at the Restlawn Memorial Gardens, Liberal, Saturday at 5:30 p.m.

Carmon Dean Judd, 63, died Wednesday, March 30, 2005, at his residence in Liberal. He was born March 4, 1942, to Clarence Scott and Lucille Maxine Rife Judd in Guymon, Okla. He married Merriloy Duncan on Aug. 3, 1963, in Hooker, Okla. She survives. He graduated from Hugoton High School in 1960. He worked at Beech Aircraft in Liberal on the wing line and was a mechanical tech and inspector. He also farmed until his retirement in 1996. Other survivors include two sons, Kenny Judd, Liberal, and Troy Judd and wife Lisa, Alma, Ga.; three grandchildren, Brady, Cayden and Madison Judd; and two step-grandchildren, Vinnie Odom and Taylor Handy. He was preceded in death by his parents; three uncles, Don and Raymond Judd and Ival Rife; and one niece, Suzanne Duncan. * Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Liberal with Neville Buchanan presiding.

He enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing and loved being with his family. Survivors include his mother, Phynon Kelley, Tonganoxie; one son, Kurt Kelley, Kansas City, Kan.; two daughters, Desarae Burch of Ponca City, Okla., Christina Kelley, Ill.; one brother, Robert Kelley, St. Joseph, Mo.; two sisters, Glenda Kelley, Moore, Okla., and Susan Moritz and husband Larry, Danville. He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Kelley. * Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Restlawn Cemetery in Liberal with Minister Ron Cosby presiding. Vallie J. Kilgore, 103, died Sunday, January 30, 2005, at the Good Samaritan Center in Liberal. She was born June 10, 1901, to George Alexander and Mary Tennessee Crawford Allison in Baxter, Tenn. She married L.V. Kilgore Jan. 4, 1920, in Putnam County, Tenn. He died Aug. 5, 1996. She attended school in this area. She worked for 10 years as a seamstress for Southwest Medical Center. She and her husband farmed near Tyrone, Okla. She was a member of the Rebekka's and Sewing Club. Survivors include one son, Carlos Kilgore and wife Georgia, Liberal; one daughter, Evalean Forward and husband Charles, Hugoton; eight grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 18 great great grandchildren; one brother, Aldon Allison Cookeville, Tenn.; and one brother-in-law, Boyd Tolson, Fort Worth, Texas. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Geneva Tolson, three brothers, Doyle, Dallas and Denver, and two sisters, Beulah and Velma. * Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Lonestar Friends Church, 14 miles east of Hugoton and nine miles north and nine miles west of Liberal with Pastor Scott Rose presiding. Burial will be in the Restlawn Memorial Gardens north of Liberal.

She had worked as a waitress and was a sales clerk for many years, retiring in 1990. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge of Tyrone, Okla., and had served in all the chairs and was Past Noble Grand. She was a leader and project leader in the Westline Pals 4-H Club and a member of the Praireola Home Extension Unit.  She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Betty Reid, Emma Williams Johns and Cecil Jean Allen.
